Thomas Morin is a network engineer at Orange Labs, Lannion (Côtes-d’Armor, France). For several years he has been working on the virtualization of the network, a topic of growing interest.

Virtualization is at the heart of Open Stack, an open source project that Orange uses and to which Orange contributes. This is a distributed software program enabling the automated deployment of virtual machines in data centers. The idea: « to deploy our services with methods that come close to what is done in the best of IT« , explains Thomas Morin.

Open source culture is entrenched in the company and is essential to the development of its products and services; today, open source is emerging as a powerful innovation accelerator.
